Exactly one year ago, the Kölner Stadtarchiv crashed. Until now, nobody has been punished for this; there is talk about sacking some officials, sending them into retirement with generous pensions – not my idea of punishment. I have something more frightening in mind.
An incredible amount of bungling has been discovered, along with corruption (which surprises nobody in Cologne). I still stand by my original prediction that the official report on findings will be published during the soccer world championship this summer, so that as few people as possible take note of it.
