Oh, make the hurting stop! Just one simple example; a tiny, innocent looking fragment out of the tax form EÜR (
Einnahmenüberschussrechnung nach § 4 Abs. 3 EStG für das Kalenderjahr 2009):
Line 5 asks if I closed my business or sold it in 2009. A question that has to be answered with yes or no. Entering a
1 into the field means yes, leaving it empty means no (or so I guess).
Line 6 asks if I sold real estate in 2009. A question that has to be answered with yes or no. Entering a
1 into the field means yes, entering
2 means no.
What the …?
Those lines are adjacent, and the geniuses who designed the form (I bet it was a large committee) weren’t able to come up with a consistent way of how to answer a simple yes/no question?
You’ll probably not be surprised how the rest of the form works out. And it is just one form of many.
Oh, make the hurting stop!
