A wonderful collector’s item, demonstrating the capacity for self-deception in our politicians, namely Klaus Wowereit of the SPD; after the disastrous spanking that the SPD received in the elections for the European Parliament (and the wins for the FDP), he says regarding the coming federal elections:
It would be paradoxical if the FDP were to win the election, although it led us into the [financial] crisis.
(my translation; German source)
First of all, there are no paradoxes; whenever you think you encounter a paradox, it just means that your premises are wrong.
Secondly, the FDP hasn’t been part of the federal government since 1998. The only party that has been part of the federal government since 1998, without interruptions, is the SPD, Wowereit’s own party.
So, who led us into the financial crisis?
I find it amazing that he can utter such a sentence without recognizing what nonsense he said; more specifically, that he just damned himself instead of the opponent. This really needs a twisted brain. I am wondering if you need such a brain before you can become a politician, or if your brain becomes like this when you stay in politics long enough.
