I accidentally the whole archive

This afternoon, the Historical Archive of the City of Cologne crashed. And no, I’m not talking about a computer crash. The whole frickin’ building collapsed!

Taking about one thousand years of history with it. At the moment, it is unknown if people were killed. Luckily, the people working in the building could get out before it crashed. As a subway construction site is right adjacent to the building (a full subway line is being built, and it has already caused lots of trouble beforehand, e. g., a leaning tower of Cologne), many people consider this to be the cause for the crash.

Now, I’m not in the prediction business; I leave predictions/forecasts/prophecies to the so-called experts. But I’d like to make a prediction regarding this case:

There will be an official investigation, a real thorough one; taking more than a year. There will be an official report on findings; this will claim that the crash was an unforeseeable accident and therefore nobody was at fault; it happened due to special circumstances peculiar to this special site and building, and therefore the rest of the subway line will not be affected; and construction can continue.

And this report will be published in between June, 11th, 2010, and July, 11th, 2010. Why do I believe this? Then will be the international soccer championship in South Africa, and therefore public outcry will be limited.

But of course, the report will be publicly available for everyone. In a cellar. With no light. With no stairs leading there. In the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying Beware of the Leopard.
