Resolution too low

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. The Grauniad reports that the CCTV cameras in the London area have to be shut off. The reason: a third of the cameras have a too low resolution, only 704 x 576, instead of the required 720 x 576. The report is from March 30, although the law that demands the shutdown comes into effect on April 1 – hmm. Perhaps an elaborate April Fools’ hoax? My money is on standard civil service stupidity; I’ve seen so much of it already, I’m not surprised by some more.
